We are going to do a county-wide effort, similar to what we did for the 1913
flood. Right now, the Middletown Historical Society, BCHS and Heritage Hall
are on board.

Our plans are special exhibits throughout the county telling the story of
Butler County's role and connection to the war (industry and personal
stories).

We are also planning a 5 lecture series:

1. Why the US initially kept out of the war

2. What changed and why the US entered the war

3. Local response (home front)

4. Personal stories

5. Legacy of WW I

We are going to be looking for speakers for 1, 2 and 5 if anyone knows of
someone. We are hoping to keep the person relatively local (UC, NKU, OSU,
Miami.)

Because we are going after grant money from several different sources, we
have already started our planning (as you can see).

Our Butler County History Collaborative met today, and I distributed the
school rack card. Again, stressed to them that for $30 a year, they could
be part of all of this advertising and I invited all of the organizations to
the November meeting (since it is in Butler County).

Also, if you get a chance, we went after yesterday's meeting and saw the WW
II landing ship that is at the Public Landing through tomorrow. Well worth
the $10 admission fee. The Nina and Pinta exhibit is also good.

Hi all

First off - thanks everyone for coming to the Lloyd for the meeting. Hope
you all enjoyed it and for those who stayed, that you learned something
useful. If you have questions about PastPerfect, please let Erin or I know.
We're happy to help.

2nd, I forgot to mention something I brought up at the previous meeting,
though there weren't many of us there.

I know you're all aware that here and there, it's been brought up that "we
should all do some sort of group/joint exhibit" - usually in conjunction
with a holiday or something.

At the last meeting I proposed that we make a concrete move toward doing a
collaborative event centered on 2017 for World War I. It's honestly not too
soon to think about planning for such a thing.

We'll be doing something at the Lloyd and I know Kathy at Butler is already
doing something. Bill Dichtl has indicated that they could tie-in, even
though it's a smidge out of their time frame.

It may be that others of you are already doing something or are thinking
about it. If we could coordinate and advertise together or publicize
mutually, I think we could end up getting good press - one because it's
collaborative and two because there would be so many of us involved.

There was a brief talk about having an ad hoc committee for this. If you
all are interested, in order to see if that's something Terrie needs to push
forward on (with the committee), we'd need to know who was interested in
participating.

This is kind of an outgrowth of my experience at the Midwest Museums
Conference. The only way to get noticed is to be big and individually, we
just aren't, but collectively....

So, my apologies for not remembering yesterday to mention it.

Thanks for your patience,

Anna
