Friends,
Our Board of Trustees discussed a few items at our Sunday meeting that we
thought this group might provide excellent input. We would appreciate your
help.
1. Do you allow pictures to be taken at your facility? If yes – do you
have any restrictions? – We encourage it!
2. Do you have an evacuation map of your facility posted? – No – maybe
because our exits are pretty obvious
3. How often do you do an inventory of your collection and items? – I
started inventory in 2009 and am still working on it! We had not done a
complete inventory since the mid 1960s…..So much of our collection was in
storage, and our forefathers did not put inventory numbers on anything. We are
having to match items to the donation records and it is taking a long time, but
we are photographing each item, giving it an inventory number and entering in
PastPerfect. Thankfully, everything from around 2000 onward was done correctly
(i.e. inventory numbers and in PastPerfect), but we have been a historical
society since 1934…
