The Delhi Historical Society is housed in a 140+year old farmhouse. We have a
wheelchair ramp, installed decades ago, designed to fit in with the materials
and architecture of the house. It is at the front of the building, visible
from the street. However, it has rotted and needs to be replaced. We have an
offer to provide a quality, pre-fabricated ramp, at little cost which would
require minimal maintenance. We also have an Eagle Scout candidate willing to
build a replacement. This wooden ramp would require paint and maintenance
regularly.
DHS is considering its options: replace old with "new," which requires more
maintenance? Or accept the offer of a professionally made, factory metal ramp
which could clash with the architecture but save much time and effort?
Seeking advice and input from our fellow MHS members.
My thanks to all in advance.
