** Have a Scofflaw with Remus, the Bourbon King
SCOFFLAW - noun. One who violates a law which is difficult to enforce.
The word was coined during Prohibition as millions of otherwise law-abiding
Americans violated the Volstead Act just to have a drink. George Remus moved to
Cincinnati from Chicago and built an empire selling booze to scofflaws.
Monday March 8 at 7 PM, Delhi Historical Society presents Bob Batchelor, author
of The Bourbon King - the Life and Crimes of George Remus, via Facebook Live!
Batchelor will share the story of how Remus became the Bourbon King and how he
fell due to infidelity and murder.
To get you into the spirit of the Remus program, famed mixologist Molly
Wellmann has produced a video to teach you how to make the Scofflaw cocktail!
The Scofflaw was created in 1926 to honor those Americans who risked arrest to
have a drink.
