Yes Martin, poetry certainly provides a different way of using language, but
that does not imply that it can change the meaning of that which its language
is describing.
And when John's Gospel says twice that Jesus was the son of Joseph, we cannot
say that its author believed in the virgin birth, can we?
Wishes,
Raymond.

is at odds with John's (or any other) gospel.

Subject: [methmins] Re: John's nativity and beyond It might be a good poem, but
it's not what I believe and it's not what John's Gospel tells us. John clearly
says that Jesus was the son of Joseph (John 1.45 and 6.42). There's much in
John about resurrection, but I haven't found anything in that gospel about
atonement. The emphasis is on the way from death to life and the glorification
of Jesus.
