Yes, the failure was specifically due to the fittings (connections) between the
pipes. As I understand it, the pipes themselves are fine, and according to my
contractor there are new designed fittings that will solve the problem.
So yeah, it may not be necessary to remove the pipes themselves, which might
make things easier and cheaper. I guess the question is, what will the
insurance companies consider an acceptable remediation?

In reference to the problem you experienced with your plumbing, was failure in
the Fittings/Fasteners or the actual piping or both? Some of the information
describing the Kitec concerns seemed to be more directed at the Fittings/
Fasteners as the source of the problem? Replacing the entire system is a game
changing situation. Ki-Fix was suggesting just that but was not replacing the
piping with copper piping.
