Hi Ron,
The Thursday CBC newscast item on Kitec plumbing was initiated by statements
made by Toronto lawyer David Roberts. He reminds people that a US$125,000.000
fund exists for claims against Kitec plumbing and that all claims must be filed
by
8 January, 2020..
To date 485 Canadian claims have been filed with an average payout of $1400.
This is a partial payment. My understanding is that when all of the claims are
in and
there is still money in the fund that claimants could receive up to the full
cost of their
repair.
If after all of these claims have been satisfied, money still remains in
the fund
then, persons with Kitec plumbing installed and unrepaired and who have filed
claims
may receive compensation.
Mr Roberts is quoted as saying, “I think anybody who has these systems in
their
house, regardless of whether there has been a failure has an interest in taking
time to
fill out and submitting them.”
Ron, If you have not filed a claim to date for your repair, you should do
so. For
the rest of the owners I suggest that we could form a group, hire Kitec Fix to
do
individual estimates for repair end each owner file a claim of the potential
harm
referring to your your experience.
