The narrative of women and nature being intrinsically associate has been
well-established. The female population is much more related to nature,
partly due to their social obligations within a household.
They are also given the onus of being 'mangers of the household', be it
through responsibilities of waste disposal and management or monthly fiscal
balance of the house. When it comes to waste management and policy
interventions in India, women have had the maximum participation.
Through my study, I am trying to analyze how households manage waste, based
on their income and consumption patterns. The aim of this study is to
observe if their exits a gendered perspective in consumption and waste
management.
