MASC Dive report - Saturday Jan 28th.
Steve, Nadia, Erwin, Darren, Georgie & Jen met nice & early at the Sorrento
Boat Ramp and before long were cruising the calm waters of the bay under a
blue & sunny sky!
We set course towards the heads and Dive 1 saw Steve, Nadia, Jen & Darren
descend into Erwin's hole... It was a stunning dive! We saw loads of fish,
beautiful craggy rocky bits, lots of colourful soft coral. Steve saw a few
crays, but was sadly outsmarted by each of them (happily for the Crays).
Dive 2 dropped Erwin & Georgie to do a drift which was enjoyable, colourful
and interesting by all reports.
Dive 3 was a big group drift. Erwin, Steve, Nadia, Darren & Jen each
grabbed a rope and enjoyed a very calm and leisurely cruise along the ocean
floor. Heaps of fish, lovely beautiful coral, interesting terrain, some
curious cat sharks. Possibly the best drift I've ever done!
Dive 4 was on the Lady Cheryl (or Shezza...), a small wreck nearish
Portsea. Georgie descended & immediately began to curse Steve for
suggesting a dive that had such a banging current. But she continued down &
found shelter inside the wreck, spending some time pondering life while
sitting on the toilet she found...
As the day drew to a close we had beautifully flat water for Steve to speed
back towards Sorrento.
A truly stunning day of diving with beautiful weather on the boat, and
beautiful scenery under water. Days like this are why we dive!
