Hi all,
At a recent joint MONUC/MASC committee meeting, it has been decided to
begin the process of closing down MASC. An increasing decline in interest
and energy (in both organisers and participants) has been noted even before
COVID struck, and the boat hasn’t been used in some time. The boat storage
arrangements are no longer possible. The meeting also resolved that Logan
(the club tow vehicle) should be retired, and a replacement wasn’t
warranted. Basically, it’s all too hard.
As such, Sir John (our much loved club boat) is to be sold – this is very
sad but hopefully he will go to a good home and continue providing more fun
and shenanigans to divers. I been tasked with organizing this, so if any
past or present club members are interested in buying Sir John, please let
me know.
Here are some details about the boat (more can be provided):
- 6.5m custom aluminium hull (1991)
- Twin engines (2012 Mercury Optimax 90HP, 670hrs, SS props)
- New twin/independent throttles
- Custom Transtyle aluminium trailer (made in Melbourne 2016, was
$10k)
- 200L fuel tank
- Set up and customised for Melbourne and offshore diving
(fin-friendly dive ladder and racks for 18 tanks)
- Buoys, ropes, spares all included
- SARCA anchor
- Emergency oxygen kit & SCUBA cylinder included
- Beach launching wheel and rope included (as used at The Prom)
- All safety gear, including EPIRB (new 2020)
