Greetings, MARC Members and Friends of MARC,
Once again, it is time for our first Thursday meeting, this Thursday,
November 4th, at 6:30 PM MDT. The meeting will be held at the Murray Fire
Department station #81 located at 4848 S Box Elder St (about 35 W).
The meeting this week will be a hands on exploration of programming your
radios, so please bring your radios with you! We will explore using
programming software as well as programming manually from the front panel.
We will probably concentrate mainly on the Baofeng radios and their
cousins, due to their popularity, but if you have an obscure radio you want
to get programmed, bring it and we'll see what we can figure out about it.
We will also talk about the "standard load", what it is and why we have
it. Hopefully we will also have time to briefly talk about codeplugs and
their use with DMR radios.
Immediately prior to the meeting, starting at 6:00, we will have a brief
check-in net on our own club repeater at 223.960 MHz (PL tone of 103.5
Hz). Remember that this band uses a negative 1.6 MHz offset (we'll talk
about repeater offsets on Thursday, too... because you program separate
transmit and receive frequencies on Baofeng radios, it's important to know
this).
