Greetings, MARC Members and Friends of MARC!
Once again it is time for our second Thursday meeting. So far as I
know, this meeting will be held at Murray Fire Station #81 at 4848 S Box
Elder St (35 W), at 6:30 PM on Thursday, 11 May 2022. The meeting will
be led by our own Founder, Dan (N7XDL) who will be revisiting his
presentation on EMP and CME (Electro Magnetic Pulse and Coronal Mass
Ejection... two high energy events that have the potential to fry all of
your electronics). I will not be at the meeting due to a family
obligation, but Dan will be sharing the presentation via Zoom (link
below) and will also attempt to record it for posting on the web site.
We will also have a brief "check-in" net prior to the meeting at 6:00
PM. This week, the net will be on 223.440 MHz simplex (no tone or
offset). This is channel 29 in the standard load. Again, if you do not
have equipment that can operate on the 1.25m band, you should look into
getting something... I just checked and the TYT TH-350 is currently
available on Amazon (https://amzn.to/3kYwvyx) for $72, but they only
have five in stock right now so if you want one, now's a good time to
get it! We are still waiting for availability on the Anytone AT-5888 UV
III tri-band mobile radio. I will advise when they become available
(I've been in contact with the manufacturer).
