All, At the recent PLCs leading teachers seminar and at the winter ETAI
conference, a number of teachers approached me asking about setting up
partnerships and projects with schools abroad in order to work on intercultural
projects and develop speaking. I will appreciate it if you can share the
information below with your PLC lead teachers and also with the teachers who
ask you about such partnerships/projects. There is a British Council website
dedicated to international learning, including school-link projects and
partnerships, calledBritish Council Schools Online, and the page for school
partnerships is: https://schoolsonline.britishcouncil.org/partner-school There ;
you can find a partner school abroad, either by country or by the type of the
projects you want to do; ideas and topics for projects, guides and starter
kits with templates, activities and much more. The global themes that have
classroom resources and project templates for them areIdentity and belonging,
Sustainable living, Conflict and peace,Fairness and equality and Rights and
responsibilities – excellent for developing intercultural awareness and
intercultural communication skills. When you partner with a school through the
site, you will get a dedicated space for your project there. There are also
case studies of successful projects. A lot of partners use whole-class and
one-to-one video conferencing to develop their students’ speaking in authentic
situations. As always, I will be happy to answer any additional questions.
Kind regards, Lucy Lucy Shulman│English Programme Manager
