[macvoiceover] vo keys VS tab

Hey everyone. Just getting started with Snow leopard. I have one question. I 
have noticed that tab works, and enter works. But all of the tutorials say to 
use the VO keys to navigate/activate buttons etc. Why is that? What am I 
missing?
