[macvoiceover] Re: verbosity on VO

Hi John,
What I'm referring to are the verbosity settings in JAWS and VO - there are actual settings - verbosity ratings - and while they may seem insignificant they matter to those who wouldn't necessarily have access to a mac and aren't getting the right feedback from the online demos. The online demos of VO don't give the range of verbosity settings that are available in VO, as I'm sure you know. Also the point of me sending this email out is to inquire as to how to compare the settings of both JAWS and VO without testing it myself. We can't discount people's relation to their technology because it doesn't *seem* important - everyone understands operating systems and techno-language in their own way. If verbosity settings and the numbers related to weren't important they wouldn't exist, would they?

John, I totally agree with you, all I can say is to go try out a mac, and see what you like.

Good evening. I don't understand the numbers you are asking about. As an instructor who teaches both Jaws and Voiceover I always tell people not to even pay atention to percentage numbers. I had this happen this morning and told my students that they really need to listen and find what sounds best not what looks best in the number. Boiceover and Jaws are two very different types of screen readers and really in my opinion can't be compaired. I encourage your friend to go try out a mac and find those perfect settings. There are many documents that can help. Thanks.

Hey folks -
I don't know if there's a known conversion tracker but I'm trying to
figure out how to relate a JAWS-user's verbosity preference to what's
available in VO. Can someone help answer my burning question?
I've got a user who is at 123 in JAWS (75% she says) - can she get the equivalent in VO? I know that I am/was a JAWS 95-105 user and can get an equivalent in VO but with my mac at home and not being good at that
kind of comparison....VO users help!
Also what's the best way to access footnotes? Can one accomplish this
in Open Office? I don't have my mac with me right now so I can't
answer this question off the top of my head.

Thank you loverly people,

Jeanette
