I also did this on my MacBook, still didn't stop the data detectors being used
in Mail.

Hi, All,
I'm following the instructions in an earlier email message for turning off
the voicing of the "data detector present", but I cannot get them turned off.
I open a terminal window from utilities and then I type:
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableDataDetectors YES
I press enter then close and reopen Mail but the data detector voicing has
not disappeared. What am I doing wrong?
