I agree the chime was helpful and Apple likely did not take us Blindees into
their consideration or consent.
I rarely reboot or shutdown, I don't think I have shutdown since I got it a
year ago.
I have extended the period before going to sleep as I was continually getting
an annoying login request which had no associated window.

know that the start up process has begun. But no start up chime with the

After calling tech support and accessibility neither one knew why they had
made the change but they did confirm that it was happening on the new iMacs.
We did register a complaint.
