Didn't you get original disks with this machine?
If not, then the person who sold/donated/gave it to you did so
illegally.
I'd go back and ask them where the tiger disks are.
But, as for alternative browsers, shiira has already been mentioned,
and there's others, just perform a search for osx and web browsers.
But, seriously, try group mode, you may be surprised at how different
your browsing experience is.
