What about Skype? Does the Air work with Skype?
Thanks,
Linda

Life is all about prioritising your requirements.

Keyboard - All MacBooks use the same size keyboard, so this is not a
consideration.

Memory - The new Air can go up to 8GB whilst the new pro can go up to 16GB.

Display - If you do not have much useable vision, there is no significant
difference between the Air 11" and the Air 13" except that the Air 13" has a
built-in SD card reader (I use a USB to SD converter.

Boot up times / storage - As you know, the computer's OS is stored on its HD
(hard drive). All Airs use SSD (solid state drive) for their HD. SSDs have
significantly faster access speeds than even the fastest standard mechanical
HD. You can get similar boot-up speeds from a pro if you upgrade to one of the
SSD options. Note that they are significantly more expensive for less storage
compared with the standard HD.

DVD/CD - The pro has it built-in. For the Air, you need an external USB drive.
Apple recommends their SuperDrive, which is what I have. I only access discs
once every few weeks.

Portability - The 11" Air is the lightest, most portable option. I prefer it
because it doesn't fatigue me at all to carry it long distances. As you go up
in size, weight increases.

If you need to go with high-end video and sound editing, you will want a Pro.
Otherwise, an Air is quite sufficient.

I am a doctoral candidate. I mainly use my Air for online library database
research, much of my writing (especially now that ML has speech dictation), and
scanning of print / OCR of scanned PDF files.

For my personal use, including email, contact management, appointment
management, financial tracking/management, and reading long documents, I use my
iPhone. I also use my iPhone for most of my business management requirements.
Oh, I use my iPhone for OCR of personal mail as well.

Which do I want a mac book air or mac book pro. Which will give me the most
bang for the buck. I need a dvd drive once in a while and I know that the pro
has one. I do want 4 gigs memory. I am told by apple that the air loads faster
than the pro, I don't understand this as the pro is more money. I would
appreciate thoughts on this. I use a imac now. My computer use is not
specialized and I am not into to phots and the like Please let me hear some
ideas on this. Thanks Don
