ChrisNot that it's any comfort, but resetting wasn't the thing to solve this. Anyway, try the following, this usually unlocks a locked up iPod: Slide the hold switch to hold and then back again. Perform the reset, but holding down menu and select for about five seconds. If that doesn't work, do this again, only this time while holding them down slide the hold switch to hold and back three times. I had to use this procedure once to unlock an iPod classic, but I've heard it works on the Nano as well. This will either cause your iPod to reset, or will put it into recovery mode. Either way is fine, if you connect it and iTunes pops up a dialog saying you're in recovery mode, simply press the restore button and follow the prompts. This will also update your iPod software if you're not at the latest. About the issue you were having before you reset, I would say check to make sure you're running the latest iPod software (1.0.3 is the latest currently). For me at least this update dealt with the problem of having some items not speak. If you end up having to restore your iPod you'll end up running this software version anyway if you weren't already.

Hi,I was trying to synchronoze some Podcasts onto my Nano. For no reason I could figure out, some moved onto the Nano and of those, some included the spoken menus and others did not but did play the click so I could figure it out. I tried all sorts of things when a frien suggested that I reset my iPod. I followed the instructions, holding down the menu and the select buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds. Now, the Nano makes no sounds at all and iTunes doesn't recognize it. I tried the reset routine a few more times with no luck. I've a silent iPod now.Any suggestions? cdhClick on the link below to go to our homepage. http://www.icanworkthisthing.comManage your subscription by using the web interface on the link below.//www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceover Users can subscribe to this list by sending email to macvoiceover-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxwith 'subscribe' in the Subject field OR by logging into the Webinterface at //www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceover
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
