Got an inquiry from an acquaintance who turns to me for computer advice. She
uses Voiceover on her iPhone, but is getting to the point where she needs to
stop squinting and use speech on her computer. She uses and iMac, so I
suggested she test-drive Voiceover. The other suggestion I had was to use a
keyboard with her iPhone, and she was wondering about an iPad because the
commands are familiar from her iPhone. She mostly uses her iPhone to read her
email, does some replying with dictation for input.
So I’m seeking wise councel to pass along, what would you do if you were a
Voiceover iPhone user needing to transition to speech output for more tasks? I
haven’t been able to gage her level of technical adventurousness, but my spidey
sense says I’ll be doing a lot of troubleshooting if she transitions to Mac.
I’ve never used a keyboard with Ios, how close to the functionality of a Mac
can you get for text input and manipulation? I’m thinking of more detailed
email responses and simple word processing.
Thanks,
Ian
