Hello Donna and all:

OK, this is the portion of the show where you stop liking me (smile).

I just called my home phone, my work phone, and my dad's cell phone. no one was at either of them so I got voicemail. unfortunately, I was able to hang up with all of them.

The only thing that I observed was that the end call button is selected when the voicemail begins ... so it seems. I held the phone away from my face ... as if I was looking at it ... about six inches. that was when the speaker activated. then I could either look for the end call button which is easier to find if you contact the screen in the lower right corner and flick or using the double tap which I know you know how to do.

I am at a loss.

If you need another ginny pig for testing do not hesitate to ask.

In short ... search me from a distance.

Give the above idea a shot ... other than that ... at this moment ... other than observing ... I am flush out (smile).

Good luck and take care.

Hi Patrick,

Well, it very well could be user error, given my newness to the phone, but I don’t think so. Yes, I did hold the phone flat. And yes, I have been able to stop and start a song in the Ipod. And I’ve been able to hang up from other calls. I really think that this is a weird bug, related only to being sent to someone’s Voicemail. I think the problem may have something to do with the fact that when leaving a voicemail, the hang up isn’t mutual. I know that sounds weird, but it’s the only thing I can think of that would be different. I’m going to call my husband tomorrow and try this again.

Thanks, and let me know if you come up with anything I haven’t thought of.
Take care,
Donna

Hello Donna and all:
Hmm, feeling rather sheepish ... this should work. Let me ask a question if I may ... just for yucks and giggles.

When you pull the phone away from your ear are you holding it flat ... parallel to the ground or if it were flat on a table when doing the two finger tap? Do not laugh at me or think that this is more complicated than it ought to be. I am just confounded (and curious) what the deal is. I know it is not user error.

Just wanted to toss that out because hanging up should not make you crazy ... I am gonna do this one more time.

Oh, just as a point of reference ... have you been able to stop and start a song in itunes? the same motion that hangs up the phone stops a song playing in itunes. and, if the phone rings can you answer the call? again, same gesture.

Good luck and if this persists we may have to call you ... mysteries like this have us climbing the walls (wink).

Good luck and take care

Hi Patrick,

No worries, it’s not going back to the store. It was just such a strange thing, because nothing I did seemed to work. I did try all the things you suggested, but couldn’t hang up. And I couldn’t hear any VO noises, no voice, no clicks, no nothing. Well, I was calling my husband at work, so I’m sure I’ll have ample opportunities to practice. *grin*
Best,
Donna

Hello Donna and all:

Public service announcement ... do not take out the battery. In fact, I believe it has to be done by the manufacturer ... though do not hold me to that one (smile).

A few ideas ... believe it or not it makes a difference sometimes if you hold the phone away from you when you are done. Double tapping the phone with two fingers ought to hang it up. Or, holding the phone away from your face should cause the Iphone to speak through the loud speaker. If you place your finger near the bottom of the screen you should hear an option. Flick to the right until you hear the end button. Just a quicker way to track it down if you are in a hurry (smile). I would start with the two finger tap though. It does work though you might have to practice a tad. I did (smile).

Good luck and if this does not work you have my permission to write back and threaten to take it back to the store ... I will do it for you (wink). Attempting to assist in avoiding the anxiety (smile).

Take care.

Hi all,

I am finding that after one is transferred to a voicemail, it is literally impossible to end the call once you’ve left your message. The end call button simply isn’t spoken. Has anyone found a work-around? Also, in the absence of a work-around, how do you take the battery out. That would at least end the call.
Best,
Donna

Take good care and I wish you enough.
