I've actually recorded several multi-track things, and it's a
blast...except
that because it's so hard to edit down to the mili-second, you have
to
record it right the first time. (or the hundredth time) <grin> The
little
control surface I have has pans on it for each of the tracks, and if
I can
figure out how to make it work, then I'll let you guys know...that
would at
least make panning possible. The toughest thing for me is that we
can't use
the loops...and I'm not a drummer, so attempting to create a drum
pattern of
my own sounds pretty hideous. <smile> That said, I think I've
figured out
how to access all the various sounds and can record them with the
use of my
midi controller. (BTW, finding the various sound categories and then
selecting specific sounds can be done with the arrow keys by
themselves, but
I haven't found a way to do it with VO and arrow keys together
yet.) I have
ordered the Snowball microphone from Apple--it's a USB condenser mic
that
can be used for recording the voice or live instruments. I'm looking
forward to seeing how that works--actually I can't wait. It gets
lots of
nice reviews. Fun stuff!

Let me try to answer a question or 2,
The pan control. You still can have a sterio track, but variation
from left to right is not workable at this time, no work around
that I
am aware of. I have reported this to Apple and I do think that it
will be fixed in one of the Leopard updates.
Loops are pasted in to a scrol area which is not readable at this
time.
Having said this, you will find that a lot of things work in
GarageBand, multitracking, effects, Middi and I'm sure that some one
will find others. So while GarageBand is not fully accessible, I
think that I could safely say that it is largely accessible.
