The eject button usually does eject cds. The tips I can think of are: if the cd is playing or importing playing or has a program loaded, stop that first; pressing down again or holding it down sometimes helps but give it a few seconds as ejecting is not always instantaneous; sometimes cmd-e will work when the eject button doesn't. But you definitely aren't the first person to have a cd get stuck and probably won't be the last.
