[macvoiceover] dvd player

I know I must be missing something but I can't get dvds to play either on my
mac mini with Snow Leopard or with my Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion. Dvd
Player opens but that's it. I checked Preferences and they are set to start
playing the dvd; I know this used to work but it's been so long since I did a
dvd that I don't know what happened. is there something I have to do to get
this player to work or is there an accessibility issue?
