Might it have something to do with other applications running at the same time? I don't know what apps might mess this up, maybe Safari? For my part, I usually leave safari quitted (quit?) until I need it and then quit it again when I'm done using it. Web browsers are the most vulnerable part of the system, I think. So my new theory, which is mine, ... is that it might have something to do with another app running simultaneously.
