You can hit your VO keys and M twice to get to the status bar. Arrow to the battery status. If you down arrow on the battery status, you will find a sub menu giving you options to view the juice in time remaining or a percentage. If your Mac is connected to power, the display will give you the time remaining for the charge to be complete.
