Hello Donna and all:

Hahahaha ... good challenge? well, maybe ... more like I found this one out the hard way when attempting to send the voice memo to myself and when it did not go lots of head scratching followed (wink).

You might not have to wait for AT&T

1. find settings on your home screen and double tap.

2. flick to mail and double tap

3. select the name of the account you are using for mail. in my case the account name is primary. once you find it double tap the button.

4. now the flicking begins (wink). flick to the right until you here the name of your smtp server. there will be a button ... so in my case I would here ... smtp.mac.com button. the button will say either on or off. double tap

5. flick to the right and you will here the standard smtp information. make sure that all of the buttons you hear say "on".

6. reenter the password ... yes ... reenter the password. you can delete the information already in the password field in order to start fresh. Yes, I can hear the groaning from here.

7. flick all the way back to the left and press the account name button.

8. try to send message again.

What I found for me was the server was not turned on and therefore turning it on and reentering the password solved the problem.

Now, if your head started to swim somewhere around number 2 (smile) email me off list if you like.

Cannot promise that more problems will not be created though I think this one can be resolved. the trick is turning on the server button and being comfortable typing in a password without looking so to speak (grin).

Take care and try not to kill me (smile).

Patrick! You are truly evil!!!!!

Well, I sort of took your advice. I tried to reply to David’s response, and I was told the phone was unable to send messages, so I guess it’s time to wait for ATT to catch up again.

However, never being one to turn down a good challenge, I’m saving your message, and when I make that voice recording I’ll send it to you! (*long evil cackle!)

Hello Donna and all:

Sorry I am arriving at the email party late (grin).

Yes, it does take a moment to kick in. now that you are up and running you ought to be fine.

OK, here is where I am going to cause trouble (grin).

If you find voice recorder on your home screen ... try to make one (wink). when you are done flick over to the share option. and double tap you then will be asked if you want to email your voice recording. Double tap the email button and a text edit field will appear. if you are already in your contacts list ... double tap the ad from addressbook button. select yourself. Double tap the send ... you should then here that increasing in tone sound indicating email is on its way (grin)

You do not have to do this today though this is a neat test to see if your outgoing email capability is functioning. Mine was not initially (grin).

Just in case you have absolutely nothing else to do (grin). Something to do in the car ... amaze your friends (grin).

Well, not sure what happened, but it's working now. Maybe your theory was
right, something had to kick in at Att.

I suspect then that this is an at&t issue. They sometimes do wacky
things with mail.

Yeah, I had mail. I tried before booting up the computer this

are you sure you have mail? if mail is deleting the messages off
the
server, it could be there isn't anything there to get. two things
to
try, set mail not to delete off the server or wait a bit and try
without downloading mail on to your mac.

Hi again, guys,

Sorry, but ... "she's baaaaaack!"

I'm trying to download my email. My accounts were imported via
Itunes. I've got my passwords entered correctly. When I go into
the
mail program, I no longer get error messages about username and
password, so I assume my iphone is connecting to my accounts. But,
I
dont get any messages. I've tried clicking on Refresh, as well as
each of my individual accounts, but no results. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Donna
