It isn't just the enjoyment with the display; I think it is true that buttons
are breakable. I have known people who had perfectly good phones but the home
button was broken. I can see that there is plenty of room for people to have
differing preferences on this issue but I don't think it is a visually
impaired/sighted debate. There are visually impaired and even totally blind
people who don't really care that ther home button is going away; there are
probably fully sighted people who like the home button. I remember how many
people were skeptical when the iPhone became accessible, thinking that blind
people couldn't really use a touch device? I imagine a beautiful display is as
wonderful to some people who can see as excellent sound quality is to me.

I have used the Kindle and also android devices without home. It is not as
efficient, read fast. You instantly know where the home button is because well,
it's a button. It's tactile. Even with the fire, which is more responsive than
android's I have used, it's still slower. So for my money, a tactile thing is
still better. Unfortunately, I suspect that these buttons will be going away
because of the fixation with larger and larger displays that are on interrupted
by things like a nice convenient home button.

Well, we’ve got the 8 and 8S, so we’ve got at least one more year of the Home
button. I believe Apple was using its noggin by providing both choices with
the new phones.
Well, since I’m currently stuck with Verizon, and won’t be able to upgrade
until 2018 anyway, I can watch from the sidelines.
We shall see.
