    Hi dear Mike!

Many thanks for your kind answer. Very helpful! I'm not a Mac user yet but I'm
going to buy my MacBook Pro in the next few days. I'm a musician and to make
music, the
Mac is much better.
Please kill your virus! Don't let it wean!

    Besst regards

  Dear Cristina,

I shouldn't be answering this note because I am quite sick with a nasty
virus. So, I will keep this short.

I am American, but I live in Austria, so I use German very frequently. It is
very easy to switch between languages on the Mac. The various language choices
are in the Voice Attributes Rotor which is activated by typing VO plus Command,
along with the right or left arrow, depending on the attribute you wish to
change. Since the Mac always keeps the language voice you used prior to the
current voice you are using, it is very easy to rapidly toggle between the two
languages or voices you have used. Switching languages "on the fly, as it
were, is fast and easy.

  Good luck,

  Mike

        Hi dear Norbert!

Thank you very much. Yes, you were really helpful . I can't wait to buy my
Mac. I'm a musician and for a music producer, the Mac is much more stable then
the pc. I'm learning how to work with VoiceOver with the recordings by Mike
Arrigo and reading the documentation.
    Thanks once more!

        All the best

      Hello Cristina,

I am using my Macbook Pro with 2 languages: English and German. Since
come from Germany and live in Switzerland, German is the language of my
operating systen. I had tu buy a package with German voices which includes 2
German and one English voice. So when I want to switch languages, I can easily
do so in the VoiceOver menue where you can change the voices. Of course,
prompts which come from the system itself are still in German but are
pronounced acording to the pronunciation rules of the English language. I can
live with that, since it was the same with JAWS when I did not change the JAWS
Language completely.

Actually, Julia, which is the German voice I use most of the time, also
does a rather good job with English texts, so often I do not even switch to
English when I hear a short text in English.

I also found that Heather, which is the English voice which came with my
speech package speaks at about the same rate as does Julia. Alex on the other
hand seems to speak faster; so when I switch to English I use her most of the
time, so I don't have to change the speech rate.

I hope that helped a little.

      Best greetings,

      Norbert
