Haha, I like your reason you hid the remote.
There was something that messed up VO. I think it might have been Expose? Sorry for the confusion.

The remote that comes with your mac is for front row.
It will not screw up voiceover, it will not make your computer explode, it will not make your machine send out viral marketing emails, and most of all, it won't turn your disks blue when inserted. It will however, allow you to launch frontrow with a single press of a button. Whether or not the menus talk as you try to move through them is hit or miss, but for the most part, it's not the least bit harmful, and sometimes is actually useful, especially if you have a dvd in the drive, and don't feel like fiddling with the dvd player to make things happen. It will play your music on itunes as well, though I've not used it for this since for me at least, menus do not talk reliably. Other folks have had other experiences, and I generally no longer use the remote, but I did try it out when I first got it, and I can assure everyone, that it won't break anything.

I will say that my wife loved standing across the room and popping up frontrow over what I was doing just to irritate me until I took away the remote and hid it.
(come to think of it, that's why I don't use it anymore)
So, there you go.
Enjoy.
