There is a remote app, which comes in handy when you can’t fidn your Apple TV
remote. It’s functional, but I wouldn’t say it gives you complete control, as
the Apple TV is still doing the functioning. It’s also handy because the iPhone
keyboard is much easier to use than the Apple TV on screen one controlled by
the directional keys on the actual remote.

Is it correct that there is an app for the iPhone that can be used to
navigate Apple TV?
Thanks.

There is a rumor that there is a new Apple TV coming out, and also a new
Apple TV remote. Opinions about this current remote vary. I am not a fan.
Other people think it’s great. I prefer the navigation on the fire stick.

Yup, it all depends on the money willingness. In canada right now the Apple
TV is $150 more then the similar Fire Stick. Grrr, I’ve been an Apple
loyalist all along.
If we end up getting Disney+ we’ll probably try Airplay from a phone first.
The support materials I’m findingthat mention a lack of audio description
for Roku dont’ mention Fire, so maybe.
Thanks, before things devolve into a discussion about things that aren’t
Apple, I’ll stop rambling.

Hi Ian,
In my opinion, an Apple TV is not worth the premium price. I have one. But
I got it sometime ago, the generation after the one you have. If you get a
fire stick, you can get the Apple TV app for your fire stick. You can get
Disney plus, but I don’t know if description works on the stick. If that’s
important to you, you might want to research whether or not people can yet
audio described stuff on the fire stick. I think I heard that you can’t.
there are also rumors about new Apple TV coming out. In that case, they
might drop the price on remaining stock of older models, so you could get
the Apple TV if you want it for less. I guess it depends on how willing you
are to learn a new system and a new screen reader. And how much money you
have to spare. Smile.

Ok, hoping this still counts as worthy of the Voiceover list, I’m looking
at upgrading from my old Apple TV because it’s apps are restricted to the
ones loaded for you, and Disney+ isn’t going to be added. So, is a new
Apple TV worth the hefty price compared to an Amazon Fire TV unit? We’ll
still have our old Apple TV for Apple content.
Cheers,
Ian
