Ah, nope, the output of the amps is definitely not low, the volume that I had
my bass amp at today would blow headphones. In fact I had to turn the monitor
gain on the interface way down for just that reason. I still dont’ have a peak
level meter installed, but the volume that I was getting with the same settings
for the amp and interface hooked to my Mac was way higher. According to some of
the forums I’ve read there is lots of demand for better gain control when
recording videos on IPhone, but alas it just seems to take what th interface
sends it.
Yup, the Focus Rite and similar interfaces sound awesome, most of the
well-rated ones have pre-amps on board, which I assume takes the place of the
amp I’ve got in my work flow. Right now we’re still in the proof of concept
stage for recording things at our little church, and until we’re clear of the
need for Covid restrictions there’s no problem running an extra mic and having
a big honking combo bass amp sitting in the middle of the floor where the
camera is positioned.

amplification on the interface, only line levels, definitely needed
amplification. Fortunately I have access to a pretty powerful bass amp at
church, and was able to send a really strong signal to the interface. I now
have a really clear audio signal for recording on my camera app.
