This is precisely why I ended up getting an external keyboard for my laptop;
because I couldn't disable the trackpad. It has started flaking out,
especially when the MBP gets hot, as from being on my lap, and I couldn't just
disable it, even after adjusting its behavior in system prefs. There really
ought to be a way of disabling it.
