If you're going to use terminal, it may help to lock the vo keys on while using it.

Terminal is found in the utilities folder under applications. It is a text
input output application that you can use for doing all sorts of interesting
things. It is the text interface to the shell/unix command set. It is a
bit awkward though because when you type a command, you need to use vo keys
with arrows to review the output since it doesn't speak automatically.

you can always open up a terminal session and type time press enter, type
date, press enter, or the reverse and tead the output, simpler though is
to
press control-f8 and left arrow to the clock.

Thanks eventually I will do this maybe by then it will be tested for
Leopard. I am new to the Mac, so I cant find my way around the finder yet.
I
am just trying to compare what I frequently do on the PC to the Mac.

Not by default, but you can create this behavior.
go to mac.com/windowbridge (or whatever the url is
members.mac.com/windowbridge maybe) and download the time date scripts I
posted there. Then look at the vo programs list, download spark, install
it, then assign the time, date, or both script to a keystroke. That'll do
it.
(and, I'm fairly certain spark works in leopard, though I've not tried it
yet) at least I don't remember testing it, though it's possible I did
<sigh> I really need to write this stuff down.
