However, my son is Vegetarian and when he cooked up this Faykin bacon I smelled
it and thought he had reverted to being a carnivore ! Fooled me....only once
mind you !
Well, see there's another workaround.........Faykin bacon.

Bacon in the microwave or, for lots of bacon, a broiler pan in the oven.
And, no one ever said that’s too much bacon. Well, @ least they didn’t in my
house. In fact, when my kids were teenagers & they had a friend who decided
to go vegetarian, they’d bring them over for the weekend & wave bacon @ them
for breakfast. LOL. The joke @ my house was, “vegetarian? Yeah but, bacon
will bring them back to the dark side!”

Bacon, now I can help here. Put a double thickness of paper towel on a
plate then as many strips as will fit, put a single paper towel on top and
stick it in the microwave for 3 to 5 minutes and you are good to go.
Thats to much bacon said no one ever, grin, smile!

I have just come in from cutting back Pampas grass with my electric brush
cutter, I take a cane of bamboo with me to wave around checking the
landscape, as bizarre as it sounds, I am proud of my achievements.
Anybody got a good workaround for frying bacon ?

I hear you & agree. I don’t mind asking & I don’t mind giving them the
opportunity to help. I just really don’t want to give in to have to ask.
If that makes any sense, which it probably doesn’t. But, I understand
what I mean & that’s enough…LOL.
Anyway, interesting topic. All the best,

Well,
All of that might be true & probably is true. But, I think the reality
is simpler. You either do the work-a-round or you do very little.
*Smile*. I’m pretty sure that all disabled people, of all disability
types, have to regularly think outside of the box. It’s a lot more
complicated, & definitely a pain in the behind @ times, but as the
Grunts in Vietnam used to say when faced with the futility of their
situation, “there it is!” I’m happiest when I can find a work-a-round
&, usually, most pleased with myself. The real frustration arises, when
you hit that brick wall that says there are no work-a-rounds. That’s
when we ring the “sighted assistance bell.” Oh, how I hate that bell.
I’m blessed with a wife & children, who don’t mind helping. But, I just
hate feeling dependent.
Oh well, again, “there it is!” Best to all,

I changed the subject line because this is a very interesting field,
one could write a book about it.
Thinking about my own work arounds, shifting to the Mac twelve years
back from Windows, because of Voiceover was pivotal, Windows had
expensive third party solutions.
Others are similar, talking tools, tape measure, watch, audio level,
scales, battery tester, then there is what I feel has been a very
strong spatial sense memory, seemingly stronger than most sighted
people.
Plus I have to be somewhat fearlessly foolish to attempt anything at
all, and I attempt almost everything !
Perhaps the necessity to find a workaround calls on a Creativity
otherwise left dormant.

Keith,
I, too, am using the MS Office 365 suite on my Mac. As others have
stated, the new model is for subscription not outright purchase, but
the applications do—indeed—reside on your machine. And, as far as I
know, there’s no move afoot to change that model. I’ve found the
accessibility to be very high. With the exception of some
clunkiness in Outlook. Which is no problem for me, as I choose to
use Apple’s Mail App anyway.
Seems like your getting a lot of the same info & that’s frustrating
you…;-). Well, I’ve reached the same place in life, “it should work
& dang it, I’m gonna make it work. LOL. I wish you success in all
your endeavorss. Your the best & we all benefit from your list &
early work with VoiceOver.
Best to you,

Thanks my friend,
My wife who is our secretary was using MS word but then they went
internet only and neither one of us is comfortable with that and
pages no longer supports Male merge and we need that.
I think I am going to poke around a little while longer. Some
years ago I used this app even translated braille with it. Maybe I
am just missing something.
Thanks again CJ.

Keith,
My results were the same as Johns. Actually, worse now that I
think about it, because it was pretty much inaccessible. Have you
considered Pages? Johnathan Mosen has a complete audio tutorial
on his site for…maybe…$35? I’m not a hundred percent certain
about the tutorial’s price. But, I do remember, when I bought my
tutorial on Amadeus about a month ago, it was a temptation.
Anyway, just a thought & best of luck.
Blessings,
