Hi Bob;

How are you moving the cursor across the desktop? I've tried it with the keyboard and with vo and don't hear this chatter.

Try muting voiceover.

Hi all,

I'm partially sighted. I use voiceover for most of my reading and use "Speak selected text" to read large blocks of type and documents. I am able to navigate most of the mac by sight. Snow Leopard is speaking more text than I like. For example, after booting, voiceover reads the welcome and the name of the first item on the desktop. Then moving the cursor across a desktop item causes Voiceover to read the name of the hard drive and all desktop items. My Leopard clone does not do this and is easier for me to use. Does anyone know how to silence the extra talking. I have played long and hard with the preferences without finding a solution.

Thank you,

Bob Thompson
