Not sure of a quick answer, you will require a GM midi bank which is 128 sounds
organised in such a way that when the midi file calls for a piano or a trumpet
or a drum kit, that is what will play.
Plus a midi file player.
Browse this site for lots of free apps and more, including GM banks.

I have a simple midi file of a vers of a Christmas Eve hymn, and I’m trying to
convert it to MP3, or even just play it. I really only need this once a year,
hoping I don’t have to learn Garage Band. On windows Winamp handled this really
easily, I’m hoping I just missed the simple answer in my web reading.
