[macvoiceover] Setting up a scanner

Hi all,
I'm seeking help here because I find that the instructions for setting up a scanner i.e. the ones for VueScan and Read Iris, are not very clear. I have a Canon LiDE 25 scanner, and I need to know...
Do I need to install the scanner drivers for my Canon scanner first before installing VueScan and Read Iris? Or, does VueScan replace the native scaner drivers?
Thanks for any and all help regarding setting up a scanner. I'm going to be busy trying to navigate the website for VueScan to find out if my scanner is supported.
