First, I would check and make sure cursor tracking is on. ctrl-option-shift-f3
is a toggle. If cursor tracking is on and you do this combination, it will turn
it off and vice versa.
copying and pasting under icon to me is easier; I find it harder to make sure I
know where I am copying and pasting in browser or list view myself, but it
depends on what you've learned to do first I guess. You simply open the folder
that has what you want to copy. If it's just one file or folder you want to
copy you make sure you are on that folder or file and do cmd-c. If you want to
reassure yourself that you have the right file or folder selected, do
ctrl-option-f6 and you will be told how many folders are selected and which
ones. Then you travel in finder to the folder where you want to paste it. You
open the folder. You paste; you don't have to worry about where within the
folder you paste.

For multiple items, you go to the folder from which you are copying. If you
want all the folders and files inside that folder you do cmd-a to select them
all and then cmd-c. Again, you can check what you have selected by doing
ctrl-option-f6. If you want to select some files, do cmd-option-ctrl-return
twice on the first one because first it will be deselected and then selected.
After that you navigate through the window and do cmd-ctrl-option once on all
the ones you want. If you want to check that you have really selected the right
things, do vo-f6 and it will tell you whow many files and what files are
selected. When done, do cmd-c to copy. Then go to the folder where you want
them; make sure you open that folder. Paste; you don't need to worry about
where in the window you are.

Actually, icon should work fine. I always use icon. I open the folder and the
files are there and can be copied and pasted. In fact, I would rather use
that than list or browser mode for copying and pasting in sd cards.

Hi Judy,
Have you tried manually switching the view with command-2 back to list view
when this occurs? I have seen oddities with SD cards, but this normally has
been a case of the card not showing up on my desktop and me having to pull
the card out and insert it a few times to get it to work.

From time to time, when I put my SD card from either my second-generation
VR stream or my OnHand into my computer, the folders show up in two rows
rather than as a list and the “view” has changed to “icon” without my input.
When this happens, I cannot “paste” files to the card. When I check what’s
in the vo-f6 window, the folder I’m in, rather than the file I’m copying
from my download folder shows up. It’s as if the selection has shifted.

Sometimes, in time, this resolves itself and when I reinsert the SD card or
reboot, the “list” comes up in proper folder order and I can once again
copy. But this seems basically at the whim of my Macbook Pro. I’m running
Yosemite.
Any help greatly appreciated.
