Hi,

I believe 5 hours of battery life is about what one can usually expect with
average use. A little more if your not viewing or listening to media. Here
goes a few things you can do to conserve your battery. First, if you have no
use for the screen, turn down the display brightness to 0% You can do this by
pressing F1 and F2 or function F1 and F2 depending on how you have your
function keys set up. Second, in system preferences, go into displays. In
here, select the displays tab. Now uncheck automatically adjust brightness.
If this is dimmed, you need to set your brightness to at least 5% to have this
option undimmed. You can also turn off keyboard illumination. Go to system
preferences/keyboards. And under the keyboard tab, uncheck Illuminate keyboard
in low light conditions. Next, I would turn off bluetooth if not using it.
And lastly, you can turn off the infra red receiver for remote controls. To do
this go to system preferences, and then security. You can find the checkbox to
turn this off under the general tab.

hth
