Hi Everett
I agree, it was very disappointing to me as well. If you need help getting the headset configured properly and how to get the audio profiles configured let me know, as I've done it several times. I don't actually find OS X's configuration interface any more non-intuitive than other systems, but the various BT audio bugs make for some interesting workarounds and tricks. That's why I eventually got a USB wireless headset instead, I just got sick of the issues surrounding bluetooth--the dropped connections, the latency with a2dp, and the intermittent static I was getting (though that probably wasn't OS X's doing, I was probably getting interfearence from something else for that last one).

Good evening Jacob,

That is very disappointing to hear. Although my primary use will be for voice calls, I would like to be able to use a BT headset as one would expect, as a wireless headset.

I purchased the Plantronics Discovery 925 and it paired without a problem, but OS X has a very non-intuitive interface for configuring the headset. Perhaps I will see if I can get it working with Skype and then go from there.

Thanks again,
Everett

Hi Everett
My honest recommendation at this point is to avoid BT headsets with OS X if at all possible. For one, OS X's a2dp support is buggy, so don't plan on doing much more than voice calls with any headset you get. Second, the powersave feature of OS X's bluetooth results in quite a few dropped connections. This largely depends on the headset, but it causes a problem to some degree with all of them. Essentially, the powersave feature of the bluetooth audio driver closes the audio connection after it is unused for a certain length of time. Depending on your headset, that can result in a completely dropped connection, requiring you to reconnect manually. Some headsets are better than others in dealing with this, but I've yet to find one that's perfect. Worst of all, there is no way to shut this powersave feature off. There is a clumsy workaround for this, but even then it can be buggy. If you're looking to use wireless headsets with OS X, I'd recommend you go with one of the various USB wireless headsets such as a logitech clearchat wireless, or a similar design. These consist of a USB sound card that connects wirelessly to the headphones, the advantage being that it operates like any other USB audio device. No pairing, no powersave, and no buggy bluetooth protocols such as those in OS X.
Just my $.02 worth.

Good afternoon,

After deciding that my Jawbone is never going to pair with OS X I would like to know if anyone can recommend a good BT headset that works with OS X 10.5.6 on a MacBook.

Thanks,
Everett
