good point raised.

for anyone who of course has either upgraded to OS X 10.5 or has a new mac and has not used the DVD player just yet. please be aware that you will get this prompt asking for a region code change . for most E.U areas it is Region 2 format. to other areas. please follow the stated region codes. however it is usually region 2 or 1

hope this information helps out

other reference. depending on the condition of the dvd or the way in which the DVD has been designed to include an application layer in the dvd you may find 2 image layers mounted. 1 layer runs the DVD and the other if configured by the manufacturer of the dvd may contain a media application. also check your DVD and CD settings in system preferences if an application has changed the way media is handled

Hi Tim and all.

I think your explanation about initialization may indeed b e the correct one, though I'd still like to hear what Carla has set for dvds in system prefs and what ;message she is specifically getting when she tries to load the dvd.

If the problem is the need for initialization with a region code, are there steps she needs to follow to accomplish this or is the dialog she is seeing when she tries to load the dvd giving her this opportunity?

thanks.
