Have you tried reducingVerbosity to the lowest setting ?

in ASCII text format.
When reading through the book, in TextEdit, VO says “return, new line” whenever
there is a new paragraph. Is there any way to prevent this from being read? I
know in MS Word, in Windows, you can choose to “hide” or “show” paragraph
marks, and when they are hidden, Jaws will not read them. Is there a similar
setting within TextEdit?
