I don’t even think this one *HAS* a fan. It’s hella fast, though, with solid
state drive (256G and 8G of RAM. I don’t use it for much more than word
processing and mail, and the occasional FaceTime—I don’t know how it would
perform if I tried to record music, and with only two Thunderbolt ports—one, if
you leave the power supply plugged in—I”m not sure how much capacity it has for
that anyway. That’s okay, I don’t have any control surfaces anyway, and I’m a
guitarist anyway, so recording my own stuff is a ways down the road. All I
wanted to do was port my TV streaming app from y cable provider to my Mac,
because its Bluetooth signal is easier for me to understand than my iPhone’s
is, with a better graphic EQ and resolution. The 13 inch screen makes for a
smaller machine, and the keyboard is almost too fast—I make lots of typos but
can type at an ungodly rate... *grin* good luck...

Hi Mark, guess you’re a bit more lucky with your machine than I am in this
case. My 15-inch I7 from 2015 gets warm and hot quickly. The fan is kicking
on with simple tasks like paging through lots of emails. And it struggles
with virtual instruments in logic pro resulting in high fan noise, drop outs
and crashes. I decided to do only light simple stuff and buy a powerful M1 or
even better an M2 machine for my higher demands when the time is right. It’s
just a bit sad that I have to wait yet another year. But I’m not gonna buy
the very first generation of a new processor architecture.
Until then I enjoy the nice keyboard of my MBP 2015. Despite it’s
shortcomings I like this machine somehow a lot.

Hi, Benjamine
I don’t have an M1. I have a dual-core I5, 1.6 GHZ. So, not the newest, but
very quick, doesn’t ever get hot or slow down, and I’m quite happy with it.

Thanks for the link.

Do you actually have a new M1 Silicon Mac? If yes, what is it like?
I’m very excited, but I’ll give the developers some time and probably won’t
replace my MBP 2015 until the 2nd generation of the new M1 chip is out.

Mark,

I don’t have an answer for you.  But, thought I’d let you know that I did
see your original MSG come through.  I was kind-of waiting to see an
answer as well.

Curious,

CJ

I asked this a few days ago, but didn’t see it come through:

Is there any way to port an app I have on my iPhone 8 running IOS14.2 to
my MacBook Air 2019 running Big Sur?

Thanks
