I agree with you CQ. I don't think vo is enterpretting anything in this
instance, just reading the *text* which is there. were it to do otherwise
would require realtime ocr which would take massive ammounts of power but
might be interesting.

I agree something should be done, but as it is still possible and
even easy to know what the battery's status is now, this is sure not a
deal-breaker for me! :)
However, I do think that if VO is already interpreting text and
such, as Travis alluded to, then having VO be able to read / interpret
the actual battery icon itself would be a good thing. This however,
would, I believe, go against the basic paradigm of VO itself, in
effect, as it isn't supposed to change the OS at all, but rather
reflect what is there to the best of its ability.
So intentionally causing the VO experience not to mirror the visual
experience would be a different model of access?…
I think this is why some people get thrown by VO, as it doesn't act
like a familiar Windows screen reader in that respect…
