I would recommend The M Audio Oxygen. Its very good. it uses a USB connection. It was just plug and play. It also has control surfaces that can be a big help in doing certain tasks like panning which you can not do on garageband with voiceover.

My Mac doesn't have a MIDI port; if I go get a musical keyboard to play with, what kind of output should it have? USB? Firewire?
