Hello Barry:
Welcome to the wonderful world of Mac and this list. not to sound too much like
a fanboy … your world will be greatly enhanced now that you are on board the
apple train :).
In an attempt to answer your question, Microsoft Office 2016 is compatible with
voiceover … and in the name of full disclosure, part of me is pained to say
that given that I have been a user of the apple business products forever :).
however, it is good to see microsoft products becoming available to persons
using apple products.
It is accessible both on the desktop side and the IOS side so accessibility is
not the biggest issue for figuring which device to purchase. ease of use,
storage capacity and capability … those are questions that you may want to
consider before deciding on which device to use.
In addition, you may want to give the Microsoft Office suite a trial run in
order to give yourself some firsthand experience. the 30 day trial is …. yes …
free and then you are asked to utilize the monthly subscription. that is up to
you :).
I hope this information proves useful to you. Please let us know and keep us
posted about your journey through AppleWorld :).
Take good care and I wish you enough.

Hi – I’m Barry from the UK and a newly-minted list member. I look forward to
hearing from everyone and, if I can, to contributing.
I have recently entered the Apple world with an iPod Touch and, as my work
Windows laptop has just died, I’m considering an iPad Pro with the
keyboard/case as a replacement. I will need to use MS Word, Outlook and, at
a basic level, Excel. An initial Google search seems to refer to weak
compatibility from older versions of Voiceover and of MS Office, can anyone
tell me how accessible MS Office is currently?
Many thanks in anticipation & all the best,
Barry
