Hi,

So, if I understand you, I as a pedestrian I cannot "influence" the map to avoid high speed highways?

Later this morning, I will be walking to a place in Harvard Sq. My dog and I usually take a pedestrian bridge over a really major traffic area. I'm wondering how Navigon will handle going off road and then back on when we get to the other side as two of the roads merging there disappear and Mass. Ave. is the only one left.

Hello Chris and all:

Nope, you are looking in the correct place (smile). If your speed profile is set to pedestrian you will see ferries and HOV lanes displayed. If you enter into these two areas you can set the level at which you would want those items as part of your route. So, for example, if I am walking through Battery Park in Manhattan and I wish for any of the ferries to not be displayed as part of my walking journey, then I would restrict that in the profile.

One of the earlier posts mentioned that in these route profiles is how one can manipulate (I prefer the phrase influence) the information that will be given by the GPS. So, if I was journeying by automobile ... what I can influence changes because there are more options upon which to travel.

Works like a charm in Southern NYC and Pennsylvania. More cities coming (grin).

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place but all I see in route profile is a place to set the speed, ferries and high occupancy vehicles and nothing about highways, etc. Maybe I'm in the wrong place?

Yes, there's a route profile where you can allow, avoid or forbid various things: highways, ferries, residential streets, etc. Haven't actually taken this anywhere yet so am just telling you the screen I've seen now how it works.
