I have been thinking about the drag and drop problem and here is a partial solution.

I have a little automator action that will give the automator submenu of the Finder a move command.

With this installed as a finder plugin you will have a menu item called "Move" in the Automator's submenu of Finder's contextual menu for any item or items selected in the Finder.

Once invoked it will ask you where to place the file with a standard dialog box and will then move the files, folders or what ever else you have selected to that location and open a Finder widow to the location choosen.

For this to work you will need to open the workflow in Automator and choose "Save as Plugin..." from the file menu. Save it as "Move" or what ever name you like and choose Finder from the application menu.

If you would like this drop me a note and I'll send it to you as I can not put enclosures in list mail.
